The School Day
We really have such lovely days with the children. Full of learning and excitement!
We meet and greet the children on arrival. The children engage in free play either indoors or outdoors with a wide range of engaging stimulus to develop their imaginative thought, creativity, fine and gross motor skills as well as that all important ability to share, turn take and work cooperatively. During this time, they have access to a wide variety of healthy snacks and a drink of water or milk.
We spend time outdoors each day (in all weathers) offering a wide range of play based and exploratory activities.
Children participate in small adult led group activities, allowing us to work closely to develop skills such as talking and listening, fine and gross motor skills, language and communication activities, numeracy activities, song and rhyme, or to help others surmount barriers to learning in individual or small group situations.
As the room is set up for dinner, the teachers and children enjoy some adult led activities together. Children receive a hot meal each day, delivered from Enniskillen Model Primary School.
We engage in family style dining which is a very important and valued part of our day. We find it is a time to chat, share news and talk about our food and choices. The children are encouraged to try a range of foods in a non-pressurised way.
We read stories daily in our story room and learn songs and rhymes. Small group story sessions will be led by a nursery assistant a number of times per week to provide additional support for pupils with language/communication delays.
Parents/Carers come to the conservatory door and collect their children, providing an opportunity for catch ups.
Some of our children with additional needs have an adapted pattern of arrival/departure or individual learning sessions during the day to ensure they feel safe and secure.
