Chef’s in training!

13th Oct 2023

This week has been a busy one for making in school. On Monday and Tuesday the children were able to peel, chop and make vegetable soup. This was a big hit! On Wednesday we made porridge for snack and then on Friday, we made our own garlic bread after discovering that the children really enjoyed this as part of the school dinners.

Mrs McBride ran a lovely forest school session with the children on Friday, which they really enjoyed. They were able to experiment painting with different outdoor resources and they were thinking about autumn colours.

The children have been very tired this week….school is hard work! Please ensure that your child is going to bed early as it is so important to establish a good sleep routine now that they have started school.

We have been focusing on listening activities. This is something you can follow up at home very simply just by going out for a walk and asking your child to listen to what they hear. Also, we are sorting items into big small and medium-sized and again, there is lots of opportunity to reinforce this at home. Maybe try sorting some plates from the kitchen cupboard and talking about their different sizes, sorting adult socks and children socks or maybe just ordering teddies or toys from the biggest to the smallest etc.

Next week we will be exploring all the signs of Autumn so now is a great opportunity to start thinking about these with your child.

Have a great weekend!
